$11.6 million allocated for second supplementary budget for current fiscal year

A total of $11.6 million has been submitted in the second Supplementary Appropriation budget and tabled before the Parliament for the current Financial Year 2021/2022.

These are for additional costs by National Emergency Operations Center incurred by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Police and Prisons as well as assistance for the Development Bank of Samoa.

Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molioo says it will be financed by additional funding from development partners including Australia and NZ as well as, part of Samoa’s Contingent Disaster Facility with AB, and reallocations of unused existing resources.

Mulipola further expressed her gratitude to Samoa’s overseas partner for the continuous assistance¬†in the country’s fight against COVID-19 and other natural emergencies.

The second supplementary budget explanatory memorandum states this will provide for the grant and appropriation of $11,600,000 from the Treasury Fund for the outputs and sub-outputs to be delivered by the Ministries and Departments, outputs provided by Third Parties, and transactions on behalf of the State.

Also, the reduction of $294,120 earlier appropriated for particular Ministries and Departments has been re-appropriated for the purposes mentioned above.

Parliament will be in session on 21 June, 2022.
