Samoans around the world were united in their support for Toa Samoa and gathered in cities to watch their Toa at Rugby League World Cup play against Australia, which won the Rugby League World Cup.
Toa Samoa scored two tries in the Rugby League World Cup final in Manchester, but was unable to beat Australia from defending their championship title.
Thousands of Samoans have indicated that while the Toa Samoa may not have won the cup but they won the hearts of Samoans with their performance throughout the Rugby League World Cup, making them the first Pacific Rugby League team to play in the final.
The Government of Samoa in a statement on their official page says the final match of the tournament at Old Trafford in London marked the start of a new era in Rugby League as they are the first Tier 2 nation to reach the final stage of the Rugby League World Cup.
People from all over Samoa gathered in Apia Park on Sunday morning to cheer for the boys in blue. By the end of the match, the Australia Kangaroos were victorious winning the finals with 30 points, while Toa Samoa put 10 points on the scoreboard.
