The Cabinet has suspended Assistant Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Magele Ropeti Eteuati pending an investigation by the Public Service Commission.
This follows complaints of alleged mistreatment of staff lodged to the Public Service Commission against the Magele.
This was confirmed in a Cabinet Directive dated 10 March, 2022 obtained by Radio Polynesia following a special Cabinet held last week Thursday.
Radio Polynesia reached out to Magele for comments, but there was no response as of press time.
According to the Cabinet Directive, on the 10th of March, 2022 the Ministers deliberated and approved the suspension of ACEO Magele pending the PSC investigation into the complaints lodged against him.
Signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and Secretary to Cabinet, Agafili Shem Leo, the Cabinet Directive says the PSC should follow protocols in terms of the salary stipulated in the employment contract signed.
Also the PSC was instructed to process the suspension papers to be signed by the Head of State.
It is understood Magele was served with his suspension letter last week Friday by the PSC and he was allegedly removed from the office.
