In news from American Samoa, 93KHJ was awarded a coveted Crystal Radio Award this morning at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention in Las Vegas.
The award is given to 10 radio stations each year to acknowledge service work in their local communities.
Talanei reported that on hand to receive the award was South Seas Broadcasting’s Vice-President Pauga Joey Cummings.
In his remarks to the audience and fellow broadcasters, Pauga said, “this is for American Samoa because without the community, there is no radio station and no award. Fa’afetai le Atua.
That means thank God.”
In a post award interview with the NAB media team, Cummings continued, “this achievement would be impossible without the exceptional work of the entire South Seas Broadcasting team.
“In particular, we must acknowledge our President Larry Fuss for his vision and encouragement as we go about our work each day.”
