Member of Parliament of Gagaifomauga No.2. Associate Minister Vaele Pa’ia’aua Sekuini passed away this morning.

He was 57, years old.

This was confirmed by his family member to Radio Polynesia over the phone. He collapsed at his residence this morning and was taken by ambulance.

Vaele unseated the former Associate Minister of Justice and Courts Administration So’oalo Mene and last year Vaele was appointed as Associate Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, under the Faatuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi banner.

He was working alongside the Minister of MAF, Laauli Leautea Schmidt, who told Radio Polynesia that he’s still trying to come to terms with the sudden passing of his Associate Minister.

“So sad what occurred and he was my right-hand man,” said the MAF Minister in a brief message to Radio Polynesia.

A constituent member and relative said Vaele will be missed as he’s a down-to-earth, humble, and loving person.

In December Speaker of the House, Li’o Papali’i Taeu Masipa’u appointed Vaele as Chairman of the Finance and Expenditure Parliamentary Committee.
