Australia’s Governor-General  David John Hurley arrives in the Country

Australia’s Governor-General David John Hurley and his good Lady arrived in Samoa last night as part of their visit to six Pacific Islands, including Samoa.

His Excellency General of the Commonwealth of Australia Hurley has been in office since 2019.

He will also visit the Senese Inclusive Education Facility at Vaitele on Thursday and a luncheon hosted by the Prime Minister of Samoa,  Fiame Naomi Mataafa, at the Taumeasina Island Resort. 

There will also be a visit to a new pathology lab with the Samoa Family Health Association/Business Partnership Platform at the national hospital in Motootua. 

Furthermore, a reception will be hosted by the Australian High Commissioner, Emily Luck at the High Commission’s Residence. 

Also, the Governor-General will attend Church service with Head of State Afioga Tuimalealiifano Va’aletoa Sualauvi II  Masiofo Leinafo Filifilia at the CCCS in Matautu Falelatai, with a luncheon to follow. 

A statement indicated the visit is an opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the close bonds between Australia and the Pacific leaders. 

In each country, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley will also spend time in the local community and see projects where our nations work together – including initiatives in the education, health, defence, and environment sectors.
