In fostering community partnerships and nurturing young talents, BSP Samoa continues to invest in sports at all levels when announcing its support of  $10,000 with merchandise worth $2,600 to the Samoa Touch Rugby Incorporated for the National Elite Touch (NET) Tournament scheduled for 4th– 5th of August, 2023.

The NET Tournament holds great importance as it serves as a platform for selecting a formidable team to represent Samoa at the upcoming Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands in November.

BSP Samoa e-Banking Manager Maiava Iaeli Tovia-Leota when presenting the cheque said, “BSP recognizes the significance of this sporting event and aims to contribute to the growth and development of the sport in the country.”

“This is not our first time in supporting local sports in the country as we recently supported the Schools National 7s Championship and also National 15s and 7s School Rugby Championship as Naming Rights Sponsors,” said Tovia-Leota.

“We know that Touch rugby has recently gained enormous popularity and serves as a fundamental sport for development and community engagement.”

Thus, Touch Rugby in Samoa has shown remarkable dedication to nurturing young talents and fostering a love for the sport, ensuring Samoa’s representation at such prestigious international events.

BSP support also extends to fund registrations for the Vaea team representing BSP in this competition. This will enable young players to participate in the National Elite Touch Tournament and get a chance to be selected to represent Samoa at the Pacific Games in November.

We believe that this continued partnership, it will make positive impacts in the lives of aspiring athletes and support the future success of Touch Rugby in Samoa.

Ms Tovia-Leota concluded by wishing the participating teams best of luck in the tournament.
