By-election for Gagaifomauga No.2 set on 3 June

The by-election for the Gagaifomauga No.2 constituency is scheduled for 3 June 2022.

This was confirmed in a statement issued by the Acting Electoral Commissioner Lefau Francis Ainu’u. 

The Gagaifomauga No.2 seat became vacant when Associate Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Vaele Paiaaua Sekuini passed away last month.

Ainu’u says the warrant for the By-election was issued by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Li’o Papalii Taeu Masipa’u on the 20th of April, to elect one Member of Parliament for the Electoral Constituency of Gagaifomauga No.2.

The nomination period opens on 12 May 2021 and closes on the 13 of May.

The last day for withdrawal is scheduled for 20 May while the pre-polling is set for 1 June. The main polling day for Gagaifomauga No.2 is 3 June 2022.
