The Government of Samoa continues to commemorate this very special milestone in its history since it gained Independence in 1962 – its 60th Anniversary of self–government.
The year-long 60th Independence celebrations continues this month with the revival of the annual Teuila Festival that had been on hold for more than two years since the measles outbreak in 2019 and COVID-19 pandemic in 2021.
The events were announced by the Independence and Teuila Festival Committee chaired by Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa.
An official prayer service will kick-off the week-long festivities on Sunday 4 September at the EFKS Youth Hall at Mulinu’u.
A church choir exhibition Will follow the church service. The Government of Samoa has scheduled a spectacular number of events to mark this historical period for the month of September.
