The defamation police report against the leader of the Human Rights Protection Party Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegaoi remains with the Attorney General’s office, for now.

They are still reviewing the file, says Deputy Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Keti during the Ministry of Police and Prisons’ weekly press conference with the media.

This is in relation to a defamation complaint filed by the Minister of Works Transport and Infrastructure Olo Fiti Vaai against the former Prime Minister in August.

It’s alleged the former PM claims the government vehicle assigned to the Minister was registered in his name. However, Minister Olo Fiti dismissed the claims and said the Government Landcruiser that he is using with a private license plate is registered under the relevant Ministry.

Last month the Ministry of Police and Prisons transferred its investigation report with recommendations to file criminal charges against the former Prime Minister under criminal libel law, to the Attorney General’s office.
