Chief Justice, his Honour Satiu Simativa Perese has denied the application by Malele Paulo aka King Faipopo, and Lema’i Sione accused of a conspiracy to assassinate the former Prime Minister for a “stay of proceedings” against them.

“The application for stay has been dismissed and the Court has suppressed its reasons pending further order of the Court in the interests of the Applicant’s rights to a fair trial,” said His Honour Satiu.

In this case, Paulo and Lema’i are charged together with Talalelei Pauga, who is currently in Australia fighting his extradition order in court.

The decision was delivered last Friday.

For the most part of the decision, it has been suppressed given the trial is yet to be heard.

The charges were brought in 2018 and Lema’i and Malele have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
