A church minister from Savaii implicated in a sexual case involving a 15-year-old girl has left the country while police investigate the matter.

This was confirmed by Commissioner Police, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo, in response to Radio Polynesia questions.

As their investigation continues, Auapa’au said the Church Minister has not yet been charged.

He also dismissed claims of delayed Police tactics when asked why this criminal investigation is taking longer than usual compared to other cases.

“There are different circumstances of each case, and there is no timeframe for open investigations regardless of where the man travels. “Once their investigation is completed and charges are filed, there are extradition agreements between Samoa and foreign governments, and they will take the necessary actions when that time comes,” he told Radio Polynesia.

Adding that Police want to prosecute cases with factual evidence, as they don’t want to file charges and then be thrown out by the court.
