The National University of Samoa (NUS) has received a generous donation of books from the Australia Pacific Climate Partnership (Climate Partnership) recently.
The donation includes 25 sets of copies of both the Living with Hazards Handbook and the Water for Life Handbook.
Our Vice Chancellor – Associate Professor Tuifuisa’a Patila Malua Amosa expressed her gratitude to the Climate Partnership for their kind donation and that the resources will be highly beneficial for student research and studies.
The Living with Hazards Handbook is a youth guide to the reduction of disaster risks in the Pacific Islands. It explores in an exciting and thought-provoking way topics such as risk, exposure, vulnerability, preparedness, and eighteen (18) different natural anthropogenic hazards prevalent in the Pacific Islands.
The book aims to inform Pacific youth and empower them to face various hazards in their islands. The Water for Life Handbook, on the other hand, is the Pacific Island Handbook for Education, Health, and Community Resilience. It looks at water as the unifying factor and a lens into Pacific Island life, culture, health, safety, security environment,
climate society, and economy.
The donation of these books will support the National University of Samoa’s commitment to advancing education and research in climate and disaster resilience.
