The total International Arrival Statistics recorded for the month of April 2023 totalling 19,164 arrivals, revealed an increase of 29.0 percent over the previous month of March 2023. This is according to the latest report on the arrival statistics prepared by the Samoa Bureau of Statistics.
Those who travelled to Samoa by Air represented 92.4% while 7.6% were represented by those who travelled by Sea.
From April 2014 to April 2023, clearly showing the impacts of Covid 19 on arrival numbers between March 2020 and July 2022, with international borders reopening in August 2022.
Overall visitor numbers for the month under review stood at 13,720, revealing an increase of 35.5 per cent over the previous month of March 2023.
New Zealand remains as the leading country in visitors’ arrival by country of usual residence accounting for 44.2 per cent of total visitors or 6,062 visitors. Australia followed next with a distant 28.3 per cent share (3,879). American Samoa reported 7.3 per cent (1,008 visitors) while the United States of America reported 7.1 per cent (970) of total visitors.
