The Ministry of Police and Prisons have rubbished claims they are “taking their time investigating” claims against a Church Minister accused of sexual misconduct involving a 15-year-old girl.
Commissioner of Police Auapa’au Logoitino confirmed the complaint was lodged earlier this month in Savaii after the complaining witness was taken under the care of the Samoa Victim Support Group.
He said they are not sweeping this matter under the rug, but they are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure they cover all their angles to ensure they are making the right decision.
According to Auapa’au their decisions in the past attracted lawsuits hence taking precautionary actions to ensure their decisions are legally binding; rather, cases are rushed and, in the end, are dismissed. In turn, the Ministry gets slapped with a lawsuit.
