In weather news, the convergence zone which previously impacted the Samoa island chain in the past few days has shifted northwestward and away from the area.

This is according to a statement issued last night by the Samoa Meteorology Office.

“Drier conditions were observed over the islands as the result of the convergence zone exiting the area and will persist through tonight.

“However, a weak trough of low pressure lies within the vicinity of Samoa and is expected to intensify later tonight or early tomorrow morning and will induce occasional showers across the area.

“The predicted conditions warrant the extension of the Heavy Rain Warning and the Flood Advisory for Samoa.
