In news from American Samoa while there’s been no official confirmation from the Department of Health but people on Ofu and Olosega of Manu’a Island have been alerted about two positive cases Covid-19 in Ofu.
The 93KHj asked Acting Clinical Director of Health, Dr Elizabeth Lauvao about the two cases, she replied, “unconfirmed until tomorrow.”
Adding that any new cases that develop in the 24-hour period since the last covid report will be confirmed the next day.
93KHj sources in Ofu say that the two positive cases are Paramount Builders employees working on the Ofu Airport construction. They have been taken into isolation at the Lopa family home which Paramount is leasing to house crews working on the airport project.
The rest of the workers are being taken to the ARFF building at Ofu Airport.
News of the positive cases surfaced after 12 noon and a Police truck with an emergency siren is reported to have driven to each home with a Department of Health employee who informed residents about the positive cases.
Families were told they should remain calm and stay in their homes and not move around. If they have to exit, they need to wear masks.
They were also told that if anyone experiences symptoms of covid not to go to the clinic but to call and a team will be sent to their home to test them.
Only first responders are allowed to move between the villages as of now. Until the two cases, Ofu and Olosega have been covid free up to now.
