COVID related deaths in American Samoa, 24

The number of COVID-19 related deaths is now 24.

The latest fatality is a 74-year-old man who passed away on April 19th but had not been reported until today’s report of the LBJ Hospital to the COVID-19 Task Force.

According to 93KHJ reports, the gentleman was admitted on the night of April 18th and died in the early morning hours of April 19th. He was not vaccinated for COVID.

The man was a stroke victim and had several co-morbidities. Among issues discussed at the Task Force meeting today is the Department of Education Hybrid Learning Plan.

As explained by the Director of Education at Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, it will be a combination of in-person and online classes. The plan is to be implemented next month.
