Representatives from the Deaf Association of Samoa had the chance to visit the Maota Fono for the first time today, the 20th of October 2022.

The visit from the Deaf Association was an important opportunity for the Association to develop a greater understanding of Samoa’s political sphere in relation to the current efforts being made to advocate for the Rights of Persons with disabilities.

The representatives were given a tour of the Maota Fono and were treated to an informative presentation by the Office of the Clerk of the Legislative Assembly highlighting Parliamentary processes and procedures.

The President of the Deaf Association, Ms. Melisa Leota thanked the Speaker through the Parliament staff for allowing the members of the Association to visit the Maota Fono and added that the representatives felt privileged to have had the rare opportunity to visit their Parliament as it has enabled them to contextualize a clear understanding regarding Parliament procedures and other-related information.
