Digicel Samoa confirmed as the naming rights sponsor for 35th Marist Sevens

Digicel Samoa has been confirmed as the naming rights sponsor for the highly anticipated 35th Marist St Joseph’s International Sevens Rugby Tournament.

Digicel Samoa has committed a generous sponsorship amount of $55,000 tala to support the esteemed Marist St Joseph’s Club in preparing for the upcoming International Sevens Tournament scheduled from the 8th to the 10th of June this year at the Apia Park Stadium in Samoa. 

The official presentation of the sponsorship was held at Digicel’s head office at SNPF Plaza and marked the beginning of an exciting collaboration between Digicel Samoa and Marist St Joseph’s Sports Club. This partnership aims to strengthen the local rugby community and contribute to the growth and development of sports in Samoa. 

“We are proud to announce our role as the naming rights sponsor for the prestigious Marist St Joseph’s International Sevens Rugby Tournament,” said Fia’ailetoa Pepe Christian Fruean, Chairman of Digicel Samoa. 

“Digicel Samoa recognizes the significance of this sport and the role Marist plays in fostering community spirit, professional development amongst the youth and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Through this sponsorship, we are delighted to support Marist St Joseph’s Sports Club in their mission to organize an exceptional tournament for rugby enthusiasts,” he added. 

The sponsorship amount of $55,000 tala reflects Digicel Samoa’s commitment to investing in the local community and promoting excellence in rugby. The funds provided will assist the Marist St Joseph’s Club in organizing and executing a world-class tournament, ensuring a memorable experience for players, spectators, and all involved.

Marist has long used this event as a vehicle to support and advance our grass roots development programmes in sports and create pathways towards professional career opportunities in rugby for both our young girls and boys. After 35 years, we have been recognized as leaders in this sport with direct requests from our neighbouring countries to participate in our annual tournament,” he said. 

This year’s tournament features team from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and American Samoa. A noticeable high caliber team that will be coming is the Fiji National 7s Team sending a development squad with at least six players currently playing on the HSBC World Sevens Circuit and an exciting addition to this year’s event.
