Director General of the Ministry of Health Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma has confirmed that there are not enough hospital beds to cater to the wrath of the flu spreading in the Country.

He told the media last week, that more than 250 children were reported to the hospital on a daily basis with the influenza.

Aiono said about 3 months ago a total of 1200 children were infected, however, the recent number of children reported to the hospital per day is quite significant.

The Director General said the closing of schools is the one way to minimize the spread of the flu. Citing the lack of resources.

According to Aiono 70 children were admitted and only 54 beds were available and the patients had to be referred to the district hospitals.

Adding that children admitted are suffering from the severe symptoms of flu.
