The COVID-19 pandemic has been contained at Samoa’s borders for over two years, with measures put in place by the Government, but a week ago, Samoa recorded its first community case. This morning the number of confirmed cases is over 700 and at the forefront of this battle are the nurses and doctors.
Its been at a defining time for health professionals and Leituala Dr. Ben Matalavea is concerned about the wellbeing of the nurses and doctors facing the pandemic head-on.
The risk they take putting themselves as frontliners is commendable as it is their duty but at the same time, they need to be vigilant and to take better care of their health, as some nurses and doctors have contracted the virus.
