The Ministry of Police and Prisons has transferred over the Fagali’i land occupied by its Traffic Division back to the Ministry of Works Transport and Infrastructure.

“Therefore members of the public are advised that all services traffic enforcement and traffic offence notices have been relocated back to the Apia Headquarters effective last week 28 July.

This was confirmed in a statement issued by Commissioner of Police, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo.

The Commissioner did not take any questions over this matter and referred to the statement mentioned above. Earlier this week, Minister of Public Enterprises Leatinuu Wayne Sooialo and Minister of Works Transport and Infrastructure Olo Fiti Vaai conducted a site visit to Fagalii in an effort to re-open it.

In a public post on social media, the Minister said the airport “will open soon”.  However, it’s unclear as to the exact date as efforts to get comments from Leatinuu were unsuccessful.

“Site visit to Fagalii Airport with the Minister of MWTI, CEO of SAA, MWTI, LTA, and MPE, this Airport is the key to Samoa Airways’ daily operations between the two Samoas. Not only for the airline but for our people as well,” said the Minister.
