The village mayor of Fagalii, Salu Moleni says the Village will not be in the way of the Government’s plans to revive the Fagalii Airport, however, the Government should consider the concerns raised by families that live around Fagalii.

In an interview with Radio Polynesia yesterday Moleni says this Airport will assist all of Samoa in making travelling easier between Samoa and American Samoa.

The village mayor says the concern of families that live next to the Airport is the odour of fuel discharged by the aircraft when landing and taking off.

Also the village mayor suggested the Government build a bigger fence than the current one to compact the sound of the aeroplane and keep the ordor inside the vicinity of the airport.

Last month the Ministry of Police and Prisons confirmed the transfer of the Fagalii Airport to the Ministry of Works Transport and Infrastructure and relocating of the Traffic Division back to its headquarters in Apia.

The same week, Cabinet Ministers Olo Fiti Vaai and Minister of Samoa Airways Leatinuu Wayne So’oialo conducted a site visit noting the Fagalii Airport will “open soon”.
