The Faatuatua ile Atua Samoa ua Tasi has endorsed businessman Lomia Tauloa Moafanua Safunetuuga Sia’aga as their candidate for Gagaifomauga No.2 constituency.
This was confirmed by the Chairman of the FAST, Laauli Leuatea Schmidt in an interview with Radio Polynesia at the FAST headquarters in Tuanaimato.
Lomia is the owner of Safune Forest honey business in Fatuvalu Safune met with FAST officials yesterday at the headquarters.
The Gagaifomauga No.2 constituency seat became vacant as a result of the passing of Associate Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture, Vaele Iona Sekuini in March.
Laauli explained that while FAST has endorsed Lomia, that does not mean other possible candidates can’t contest in the by-election scheduled on 3 June 2022.
The Chairman of the FAST party has also informed other potential candidates of their request to run for office under their banner, in turn, to support the endorsed candidate.
The nomination period ends today and the last day for withdrawal is scheduled for 20 May while the pre-polling is set for 1 June.
