The Ministry of Police and Prisons have charged a man who tied his son to a chair. This was confirmed by an SVSg official, as efforts to get comments from Acting Police Commissioner Leiataualesa Samuelu Afamasaga were unsuccessful as of press time.

This incident first came to light when a photo of the kid went viral on social media in February and this prompted the Samoa Victim Support Group to take action.

The boy is now under the custody of the Samoa Victim Support group.

The father had since been charged with assault and he is scheduled to appear on 31 May 2022 before the court for his criminal mention.
