Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa has confirmed the Fautasi race will be the finale of Samoa’s 60th Independence celebrations.
In a press conference this week, prior to travelling to American Samoa, the Prime Minister confirmed only three Fautasi registered and the sub-committee recommended leaving this as the last activity of the year.
This will afford the opportunity for the villages enough time to prepare and train for the Fautasi competition. The winning prize is $60,000 tala.
