Fiji Airways will be Samoa’s second flight for the re-opening of its borders internationally.

Despite the opening of borders Samoa still requires vaccination cards and medical clearances says Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa in announcing the closing of Samoa’s State of Emergency orders last week.

The Samoa Tourism Authority has assembled the Samoa media to witness the arrival of the international flights since Samoa closed its borders two years ago.

Fiji Airways will arrive at 4 pm and the media were asked to be ready to welcome our first international tourists and families.

In addition to that, the STA in its “Beautiful is Back” campaign is hosting a media tour with journalists from the Region, including Australia, New Zealand, and American Samoa with most of the expenses paid for.

The tour is one week from 1st -5th August 2022.

In an email invitation to the international media, says STA says in line with our preparations for the first flights carrying our first visitors since lockdowns, we are extending an invitation to you, our media partner, to be a part of this joyful event and to help us share the news with your audiences and the wider travelling community.

The invitation says that flights, accommodation, transport, and some meals will be provided.

“This is on top of other ground logistics which include entry fees to attraction sites and ferry charges across to the beautiful island of Savaii.”

In the past year, the STA hosted media tours for the local media, but this time the invitation has been extended to overseas media.
