The Supreme Court has scheduled the hearing date in the case of Aui’a Fereti Moefiti 54 charged with the murder of a man and his son in Savaii back in June.
The case is set for trial on 13 March 2023.
The defendant is facing two counts of murder in addition to grievous bodily harm, armed with a dangerous weapon, and possession of an unlawful firearm.
The defendant appeared before the Supreme Court yesterday seeking bail, as the court has denied bail from his initial appearance in July, given the nature of the charges.
This matter is now set on 17 October for the court to render its decision on the defendant’s motion for bail.
This case is in connection to an incident that occurred in Fogapoa last month over a land dispute that led to the alleged deadly shooting of a man and his son.
The wife of the young man that died, was also injured when she attempted to save her husband.
