Former ANZ employee accused of embezzling more than $80,000 charged

In other Police news, a 38-year-old female former employee of the ANZ Bank accused of misappropriating more than $80 thousand tala has been charged.  

The criminal charges were laid a week after the complaint was lodged. 

This was confirmed by Deputy Police Commissioner Papalii Monalisa Tiai-Keti during a press conference with the media yesterday. 

The woman from the villages of Sato’alepai and Nuu Fou is facing charges of theft as a servant. The woman is currently out on bail and is scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court on the 12th of December.

According to Papalii, the police investigation was prompted after the bank lodged a complaint with Police last week.

It’s alleged that more than $80 thousand tala was being misappropriated.
