Former employees accused of stealing close to $300,000 appear in court

Misappropriations of nearly $300,000 led to criminal charges against four former employees of Tradepac Marketing Samoa. 

The defendants are Tamaalupeluse Silva also known as Lupe Silva. Navneel Nietsh Nair, Lagi Autagavaia, and Pelepesite Akeli are jointly charged with theft as a servant, while Silva faces five theft-related charges. 

The four accused appeared in court for criminal mention this week before Supreme Court Justice Fepulea’i Ameperosa Roma. 

Police records say the alleged theft started in 2020 to the tune of $245,000 tala. All four defendants are accused of taking over $18,000 in cash between 30 June 2020 and 1 March 2021. Furthermore, between 1 September 2020 and 1 March 2021, the four former employees were accused of stealing another $5,681 in cash, and they are all implicated in jointly taking an additional $60,638 between 31 July 2020 and March 2021. 

Silva is facing a separate theft charge as a servant for allegedly taking another over $3,000 in January 2021, according to Police records.
