The former Chief Executive Officer for the Samoa Tourism Authority, Fa’amatuainu Suifua Lenata’i has been acquitted of the criminal charge of insulting words in Faamasino Feasoasoani court last week.

This was confirmed by his lawyer, Alex Su’a in response to questions from Radio Polynesia.

“He has been acquitted of only one charge of profanity language he was charged with at Faamasino Fesoasoani District Court,” said Su’a.

Fa’amatuainu was charged in March this year following a complaint lodged by one of the STA staff, Kerisimasi Melani Tunufa’i over allegations of insulting words in an incident last December.

It’s alleged the STA CEO allegedly insulted the complainant, by calling him names, in reference to private parts, on three separate occasions.

Asked whether Fa’amatuainu intends on taking legal action against Kerisimasi, Su’a said he has not been instructed. However, he does know Suifua want to move on and is focusing on his career development and his family now.
