Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Ale Molio’o confirmed the changes in retail petroleum products prices for the month of December.
According to Mulipola petrol has decreased by 17.4 sene per litre from $3.51 to $3.34 per litre, diesel will increase by 17.2 sene per litre from $3.99 to $4.16 per litre and Kerosene will decrease by 0.80 sene per litre from $3.58 to $3.57 per litre.
“Whilst concerns about a global recession has dampened forward demand leading to lower base prices for some products, diesel prices are being directly impacted by reduced supply from Russia into Europe which is offsetting most of this downward trend.
“The strengthening of the US$ has had a particularly detrimental impact on Samoa’s import prices, the Tala declining 5% over the US$.”
