Gafa Siona Taufao, a 39-year-old man of Malie charged in relation to a hit and run last month at Vailoa that led to the death of a woman, has appeared for his criminal mention.
Taufao, however, has pleaded guilty to operating an unlicensed vehicle and not stopping to provide aid. However, he denied the charge of vehicular manslaughter.
This matter is now set for trial on 6 May 2024. Police put out an all-points bulletin for information about the driver that led to the arrest of Taufao not long after.
According to Police, the incident led to the death of a female pedestrian due to the severity of her injuries. The incident in Vailoa happened near the petrol station, and the vehicle believed to be involved is a white Getz.
