Since 2014 the Institution of Professional Engineers Samoa has been offering scholarships to National University of Samoa students.
This year, IPES presented a cheque of $10,000 tala to sponsor twenty scholarship awardees and the majority of the successful scholarship recipients are in their second or third year of studying a Bachelor of Science programme.
IPES President, Tafeamaalii Philip Kerslake in a statement said this year marks 5 years since the Institute began granting scholarship awards for NUS Students in 2014, notably in the fields of engineering and TVET disciplines that correlate to the fundamental function of our institute.
“Most importantly, we encourage our scholars to be faithful and diligent in their fields of study in order to ensure that they graduate with distinction which will affect the quality of the services they provide in the industry.”
Acting Vice Chancellor, Peseta Dr. Desmond Lee Hang, thanked the IPES President and
the Institute for their continuous support, given the substantial need for financial assistance during these uncertain times. Indeed, these scholarships will help our students fulfill their dreams and succeed in their academic pursuits at the University.
“On a broader scale, we appreciate the IPES sponsorship which contributes to achieving the University’s academic objectives of educating and developing graduates to satisfy the personnel needs of Samoa.”
