Site Visit to the JICA and Government of Samoa pilot project on biolog filter, Fagalii Village, Wednesday 11th October 2023.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, in collaboration with JICA, is piloting biolog filters made of coconut fibers to control sedimentation into rivers and receiving waters.
This project has come to its final stages of implementation, with the installation of Biolog filters along the Fagalii River and Fjord Riverbanks.
A key objective of the pilot project is to raise awareness of the importance of this nature-based solution to combat river bank erosion and sedimentation and hopefully increase national interest in implementing similar interventions around Samoa.
