Lakapi Samoa and APTC endorses MOA to develop sports and educational opportunities

Lakapi Samoa and the Australia Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) signed a Memorandum of Agreement, a partnership that will represent a significant milestone in our efforts to promote sports development and educational opportunities in Samoa.

Minister of Education Sports and Culture Seuula Ioane Tu’uau said Lakapi Samoa is the national sport organisation committed to leading and encouraging rugby in Samoa.

He said rugby holds a special place in our hearts and is deeply woven into our culture and traditions. It showcases the strength, resilience, and unity of our people.

The Minister said the signing is indeed timely. Mainly as we are a few weeks away from the much-awaited Rugby World Cup 2023 in France, this presents a significant opportunity for the development of Lakapi Samoa and demonstrates our commitment to education and sports development.

Education is vital for progress and is a priority for the Samoan Government. We are committed to ensuring that all Samoans have opportunities for skills development, including in sports, increase their employability and contribute to economic growth.

The new partnership will help enhance the existing skills and knowledge of Lakapi Samoa personnel, and improve the capacity of the young men and women enrolled in the High-Performance Unit through the delivery of high-quality, accessible and relevant education and training by the APTC.
