A man who assaulted his pregnant wife on Mother’s day has been charged with assault.

However there is a possibility of more charges, said Deputy Police Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo. He said the accused was arrested by police on Sunday from Toamua.

According to Auapa’au the woman was allegedly assaulted in the presence of her child.

The accused is scheduled to appear for criminal mention next week.

The Deputy Commissioner also used the opportunity to remind men and women that assault will only escalate any situation in a family setting.

“Assault is never ok in any situation.

“When upset, walk away and think before taking any further actions. The Police nowadays have zero tolerance for domestic cases where women and sometimes men are assaulted.”
