A 57-year-old man from Safune has been charged with negligent driving causing injury following an incident that occurred in Nofoalii.
It’s alleged the man was rushing to catch the ferry to Savaii, he overtook vehicles which led to a traffic accident.
The injured party was a tourist, according to Police Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, in response to questions from Radio Polynesia.
He said the accused overtook the two vehicles when an oncoming vehicle was making a turn and that’s when the vehicles crashed.
The Commissioner also confirmed the accused is scheduled for criminal mention on 14th February next year.
