Semisi Ali’imatafitafi is facing a murder charge following a shooting incident in Faatoia last month.
Ali’imatafitafi was on the Ministry of Police and Prison’s wanted list as the authorities had little information in capturing him. Not long after the wanted list statement was issued, the accused was apprehended in a vehicle by Police.
Police Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo confirmed this with Radio Polynesia. He said Ali’imatafitafi remains in the custody of the Police and will appear in court on 18 September 2023.
According to Auapa’au, the defendant is the alleged shooter in an incident that left a Matautu man dead in Faatoia last month. The deceased was in his 30s, as confirmed earlier by the Police Commissioner. He said Police received a call from people in the area regarding gunshots.
He also told Radio Polynesia the residence where the incident occurred has been under Police Surveillance for drug activities in the past.
