Man implicated in deadly shooting in Afega pleads guilty to manslaughter

Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala-Warren has scheduled sentencing for Vaotuua Auleoleo Neemia, in November after pleaded guilty to manslaughter. 

Vaotu’ua is charged for the deadly shooting of two men in Afega last year.

This week he pleaded guilty to manslaughter a lesser charge than the murder charges he initially faced. The defendant who is from Falelatai shot two men in broad daylight on New Year’s eve following a disagreement on the road. 

The defendant’s family conducted two separate traditional apologies which were accepted by the victim’s families on the same day. 

Justice Tafaoimalo ordered a pre-sentence report to be submitted prior to sentencing.
