A 71-year-old man has entered a guilty plea to two counts of rape, involving his two daughters ages 16 and 11.
The matter was heard before the court on Friday and was presided over by his honour Chief Justice Satiu Simativa Perese.
Talamua reports the defendant entered a not guilty plea on 6 counts of rape when the matter was first called but changed his plea when he appeared in court.
After pleading guilty, the prosecution asked to drop 4 charges and he will be sentenced on the two remaining charges on 8 August 2022.
The case says the sexual incident occurred between 2016 to 2018. The victim remains under the care of the Samoa Victim Support Group Campus of Hope at Tuana’imato.
After entering his guilty plea, the Chief Justice ordered the defendant will remain in police custody to await his sentencing due to the seriousness of his charges.
Sentencing is scheduled for 9 September 2022.
