Matafeo: our clients maintain that the story from Talanei is “factually incorrect”

Sunshine Farmers owned by Frankie Limited have dismissed reports by Talanei news in American Samoa regarding their latest shipment of eggs exported to the US territory which was carried by Radio Polynesia yesterday.

Sunshine Farmer’s lawyer Matafeo George Latu in an email to Radio Polynesia cited their client’s maintains that the story from Talanei is “factually incorrect”.

“Our client confirms that she spoke with [Leilua Ame Sene Tanielu] and told her that Frankies were advised by the Authorities in American Samoa to halt further shipment until the MOU between the two countries was finalized and not because of an alleged order from the USDA.

“In any event, Frankies had already decided anyway to stop because of a shortage of stocks.

Further, the denial by the acting director of Agriculture of American Samoa of any such order from the USDA in a meeting with Samoa’s Consul to American Samoa only confirms our position.

“While the word “contamination” is not in the story the implication is that the shipment was not fit for consumption hence the order to destroy it.”

Radio Polynesia apologizes to Sunshine Farmers and our listeners for the mistake.
