The Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour has again reminded foreign investors the business ventures they are prohibited from investing in.
Acting Chief Executive Officer, Letiluaialii loane Okesene in a statement pointed out that all Foreign Investment Enterprises or businesses with foreign shareholding are advised that under the Foreign Investment Act 2000; it is an offence for a non-citizen or a company having a shareholder who is a non-citizen, to engage in or be employed at any business or economic activity in Samoa, which is: (a) specified in the Prohibited List or the Reserved List, bus transport services, Taxi transport services, Rental vehicles; retailing of food and drink items; sawmilling and traditional elei garment designing and printing.
“If a non-citizen is found to be involved in any of the reserved activities as outlined above, the Ministry will take appropriate action to address this issue.
The public is also encouraged to report any cases of non-citizens engaged in any of the reserved activities to the Ministry.”
