Minister of Justice and Courts Administration claims to be in the dark about a proposal by the Judges of the Lands and Titles Court seeking to increase their salaries.

Minister Matamua Vasati Pulufana told Radio Polynesia that apparently the “request” from the Judges was addressed directly to the Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mata’afa.

And the Minister declined to comment on the request from the Judges, noting that she was not copied on the letter and that she has “only heard about it.”

Repeated efforts by Radio Polynesia, to get comments from the President of the LTC Judges.

But in 2018 the previous Administration approved the increase of salaries for Justices in the Supreme Court, Judges of the District Court and the Land and Titles Court.

The President of the Land and Titles’ salary increased from $126,072 to $131,250; the Deputy Presidents of L.T.C. increased also to $94,500 while the LTC Judges who were making  $63,036 each were to receive a boost of $10,464 amounting to total of $70,000+ salary per annum.
