The 67-year-old man recorded on Wednesday, as Samoa’s first covid related death had two vaccination shots, but he did not receive his booster. He also had underlying medical conditions.
Acting Director-General for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Glen Atoa Fatupaito confirmed this in an interview with Radio Polynesia this morning.
The man died shortly after being admitted to the Lalomanu District hospital.
Dr. Fatupaito said people that have comorbidity are more at risk and that due to the high percentage the Ministry will expect more fatalities as a result of the outbreak.

The Acting Director-General urges the people of Samoa that have noncommunicable diseases to get their vaccine. It will help them fight covid and to exercise the health measures in place such as masking up, washing hands regularly and exercising social distancing.
