Mother charged in death of her daughter

A 37-year-old mother of Toamua has been charged with manslaughter, armed with a dangerous weapon; actual bodily harm, and grievous bodily harm, in relation to the death of her 13-year-old daughter.

This was confirmed by Police Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo in response to Radio Polynesia questions. 

According to the Police Commissioner, the incident occurred last month. 

It’s alleged the mother was disciplining one of the children who took off on foot, the mother then picked up a rock and threw it, and struck the 13-year-old victim. 

She was taken to the hospital where she died.
