Member of Parliament, Sulamanaia Tauiliili Tuivasa was escorted out of the Parliamentary session this morning, for yelling inside the Chambers.
The motion was voiced by Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa asking the Speaker of the House Li’o Papalii Taeu Masipa’u to remove Sulamanaia from Parliament.
The motion was seconded and the Speaker ordered the Sergeant in Arms to remove Sulamanaia.
Prior to exiting Parliament, Sulamanaia explained he “yelled” inside the Chamber that MP’s are arguing yet the public is tuning in.
Adding that he respects the Speaker and Parliament, but only voiced concerns as Cabinet Minister Laauli Leautea Schmidt and MP Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi were arguing yet members of the public are tuning in.
He apologised to Speaker and Prime Minister for his actions, noting that he was looking forward to the session but it’s evident from what is happening there is no sense of peace in Parliament, yet members of the public are tuning in.
“Despite this wrong,” said Sulamanaia, but he will abide by the orders of the Speaker.
Sulamania was then escorted out of Parliament. We will report separately on the argument between Laauli and Leala.
