National Land Management and Survey Commemoration Day

The Ministry commemorated the National Land Management and Survey Day on February 28, 2023 at the Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi (TATTE) Samoa Convention Center. The prayer service was conducted by Pastor Dr. Paul Matamua followed by a keynote address which was delivered by Hon. Toeolesulusulu Cedric Salesa Pose Schuster.
The official opening included entertainments such as songs, mauluulu and a skit which emphasized the services carried out by both Land Management and Technical Division.
The presentations of the day mainly focused on Land Surveying Services, Spatial Quality Assurance, Spatial Mapping Services, Land Policy and Developments, Customary Land Leases, Government Land Leases, Land Registration Services and Land Valuation Services.
Students from Samoa College, St. Mary’s College, St. Joseph’s College, Faleata College, Vaimauga College, Leifiifi College and members of the community were invited to be part of this celebration. Majority of the questions asked by college students, sui o nuu (representatives of different villages) and those who participated in the program revolved around surveying and mapping services, customary land lease, government leases, land registration and land valuation.
The Ministry acknowledges the support of United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) for making this celebration possible.
