New Associate Ministers takes office

The FAST Government sworn in two Associate Ministers today, Members of Parliament Foisala Lilo Tu’u Ioane and To’omata Nora Leota. 

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Cabinet Office and was led by a prayer service conducted by Minister of Health Valasi Tafito Selesele. 

Fo’isala has been appointed as Associate Minister for the Ministry of Health while To’omata is now the Associate Minister for the Minister of Customs and Revenue.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata’afa said it is a fitting time to swear in additional Associate Ministers as next month will mark a year since the FAST Government took office and also a time to reflect the work that needs to be done and how far they have come. 

Adding that Associate Ministers wear two hats, aside from their ministerial post, they also serve on the Parliamentary Committees. 

The Prime Minister congratulated the new officials. 

Fiame said the new Associate Ministers have specific tasks for the Ministry in terms of overseeing a specific division that requires assistance.  

For To’omata the Prime Minister said, she will be tasked to oversee the Revenue Division side of the Ministry of Revenue and Customs which is under the portfolio of Deputy Prime Minister, Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio is Minister. 

Fiame said with the Ministry of Health, Fo’isala will oversee other certain services in the Health Sector. 

She acknowledged To’omata’s for her perseverance in the journey she took to get into office, while challenging, in the end, she is now Associate Minister. 

Adding that there are new challenges but encouraged her to the court and look to God for guidance.
